On Mission
“The liberty of the press consists, in my idea, in publishing the truth, from good motives and for justifiable ends, though it reflect on the government, on magistrates, or individuals. If it be not allowed, it excludes the privilege of canvassing men, and our rulers. It is in vain to say, you may canvass measures. This is impossible without the right of looking to men.”
— Alexander Hamilton (February 13, 1804)

Our Mission
Our podcast will examine the crucial intersection of rising antisemitism, hate, and division in America through an American Jewish perspective. As a community that has been part of this nation since 1654, we understand the indispensable role of democracy and the First Amendment, which underscore the importance of the separation of church and state.
We view rising antisemitism as a canary in the coal mine, signaling that the health of our democracy is at risk. Our responsibility is to confront these challenges and uphold the principles of life, liberty, and happiness for everyone. Our podcast draws on historical and philosophical teachings, showing how lessons from the past illuminate today’s political landscape.
Join us in meaningful discussions about critical issues such as political polarization, diversity, equality, and safety. Through compelling interviews and thoughtful reflections, we aim to foster a more unified society that promotes empathy, moral responsibility, and justice.
Together, let’s strive for a more perfect union and inspire the change our world needs. Tune in and be part of the conversation!
About The Host
As a proud Jewish American, my journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to community, education, and advocacy. I graduated from Loyola University with a B.S. in Political Science, a foundation that fueled my passion for democracy and public service. With over 22 years as a business owner, I established myself as the first woman to own a 100% woman-operated Managed Service Provider (MSP) in the country, blending my technical expertise as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) with my entrepreneurial spirit.
I have devoted countless hours to non-profit organizations throughout my life, offering my IT skills pro bono to help them thrive. My teaching experience spans various roles, including five years as a Sunday school teacher, two years training computer engineers, and numerous positions as a camp counselor and youth group leader. I am a passionate public speaker, frequently asked to share insights at family events and synagogue gatherings.
As a devoted mother of two remarkable children, I take immense pride in nurturing their kindness, intelligence, and success. My lifelong friendships, some dating back to childhood camp days, enrich my life and encourage the values of community and connection.
How the Podcast Started
The turning point in my life came in February 2023, when I experienced the harsh reality of rising hate firsthand. Walking to synagogue on what white supremacists labeled a “national day of hate,” I felt compelled to act, especially as I kept my children safe at home that day amidst heightened police presence in Jewish neighborhoods. I envisioned launching a nonprofit that would foster dialogue between observant Jews and communities of faith across America—promoting understanding through shared experiences and discussions over cake and coffee.
However, the brutal attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and the surge of anti-Zionist sentiment in the U.S. highlighted the urgent need for a platform to address these issues. This led me to create “On the Basis of Democracy,” a podcast dedicated to exploring the beauty and challenges of democracies worldwide. It is an endeavor rooted in the belief that Jews have a responsibility to safeguard democracies, given our historical experiences with discrimination and persecution.
Through candid conversations and thoughtful dialogue, I aim to inspire others to engage in the democratic process, understand diverse perspectives, and foster unity in the face of hate. Join me as we navigate the complexities of democracy and advocate for a world where understanding and acceptance prevail.
